The Silver Sabre series has had a very long history with Tesoro Electronics. It was first introduced in 1983. In a time when "lunch box" detectors were the norm, the original Silver Sabre was perceived as a toy unit. There have been many men who bought one for the wife and wound up using it because it worked as well as any other detector on the market. The Conquistador joined the Tesoro lineup only one year ago, but it has made quite an impression. It was the first Tesoro detector to have a frequency shifter. Both relic hunters and competition hunters immediately fell in love with the unit. The detector's versatility proved to be the match for some of the toughest conditions in the world.

The Conquistador µMax uses our latest technology to make the Conquistador a little better. First we used our latest microprocessor controlled PCB. The microprocessor controls the audio tone, frequency shift and the battery test for the Conquistador µMax. The mode switch has been changed to include the switchable battery test. We have also added a VCO all metal pinpointing feature. The most noticeable change is that the Frequency shift switch has been moved up to the front of the faceplate. The "trigger switch" on the original Conquistador was great if you were right handed, but lefties had a bit of a problem with the placement. The Conquistador will come standard with the 9x8 coil and will have our latest plastic faceplate. The Conquistador µMax is a direct replacement for the Conquistador and will have a suggested retail price of $399.00.

The Cortés represents the best combination of current and new technologies that Tesoro has to offer. When Jack Gifford and Vince Gifford set out to create a new target ID machine they each brought with them different experience. Jack has over twenty-five years experience designing some of the best analog detectors that have been on the market. Vince brought with him a decade of computer systems experience. Together, they have been creating new technology that gives our detectors superior performance and keeps them easy to use. Various parts of this technology have been finding it's way into Tesoro detectors since the introduction of the Golden µMax. The new Cortés represents all phases of our new microprocessor technology combined with our tried and true analog circuits to create a detector that has all of the high end features our customers have asked for with user friendly Tesoro controls.

All of these new features are complimented by Tesoro's easy to use controls. No touch pads or scroll through menus. Set the detector how you like it by adjusting the knobs on the front of the machine. The Cortés features an On/Off Sensitivity knob; a Discriminate Level knob; a Manual Ground Balance knob; a Mode Switch with All Metal, Discriminate and Sum mode settings; a Notch Width switch with Off, Narrow and Wide settings and a Light switch to control the LCD backlight with a High, Low, and Off positions.

Introducing the Tiger Shark

"The Tiger Shark will be the newest detector in the Tesoro lineup and is the direct replacement for the Stingray II. The Tiger Shark is a microprocessor based detector that is designed specifically to work in both wet salt and dry land conditions. The hardest place for a VLF detector to work is in a wet salt condition. The changes in the conductivity cause most machines to chatter and chirp constantly. Every manufacturer has tried a number of different solutions to this problem. Most try to drop the gain, which is the amount the detector signal is amplified. With less gain, the detector is less likely to chatter, but the depth and sensitivity are severely affected. Jack and Vince took a slightly different approach with the Tiger Shark. They studied salt water effect and found a new set of guidelines that will handle this problem. So when you switch from the Normal to Salt mode on the detector, the whole function of the detector changes, not just one part. This will allow you to hunt with full gain while ignoring the wet salt conductivity problems.
"The Tiger Shark has two separate modes of operation. The Normal Mode used for land detection and the Salt Mode used for wet salt sand hunting. Each mode can be used in either all metal or discriminate. Once the machine is turned on and the mode is selected, the use of the Tiger Shark will be very similar to the Bandido II µMax. The machine must be ground balanced in all metal, after that it can be used in either all metal or discriminate. The controls on the face plate will be Mode (Normal or Salt), Tune Speed (All Metal Slow, All Metal Fast or Motion Discriminate), Discriminate Level and Ground Adjust Level. Internal controls include Sensitivity, Threshold, and Volume. The Tiger Sharkwill have the new style of drop-in battery holder and will use all Stingray II accessory coils.
